He remembers very little earlier than the last two years, beyond the following:

  • His elven name and fleeting snapshots of a peaceful childhood in a tree-filled beautiful city.
  • His violent murder, though not the circumstances or the perpetrator.
  • Awakening in the Boneyard and an unknown time of waiting due to a refusal to pass beyond it that even the psychopomps could not overcome.
  • Piquing the interest of a group of Olethroe psychopomps who felt he was making the boneyard untidy. It was they who subsequently parlayed with the Yamarajes for his return to the mortal world as a duskwalker.
  • Reincarnation, and a chance at revenge... but in the body of an orc, traditional enemy of his people, and one that stands out from the crowds.
  • Since his return and early adventures Esan has dug deeper into his relationship with Pharasma, taking on elements of a champion of her cause.


Esan wished often for death again in the first year of his new life and often nearly found it, but discovered that he is now very hard to kill. After a period of reflection, Esan learned to channel his feelings of loss into a martial training kata with a peace of mind centred on gratitude for his rebirth.
Not knowing what to do with himself, he travels around hiring out his martial skills to those wandering trade caravans not too afraid that he will lead them to an ambush of his 'kin'.

He is always hoping that his dreams will help him to remember something more from before his death or that his wanderings will bring him face to face with his patron.
