Hera is the goddess of farming. Her divine portfolio covers the natural elements required by both agrarian farmers and nomadic drovers and she is usually the patron deity most favoured amongst such societies. She also has some followers amongst hunter-gatherers. She is commonly depicted smiling benevolently, holding a bushel of grain in one arm and an upright scythe in the other, with a rayed sun picked out behind her. |
