Nephitin's Armour
A suit of half-plate +3.
A suit of ornate armour worn by a long-dead line of ancient kings. The court mages of the day ensured the armour could save the life of the king should he be mortally wounded during battle.
Life save
A life threatening attack (one which would reduce hit points below 0) is exchanged for a temporay strength drain instead. 1 strength point is needed to negate every 10 hit points of damage.
For example, if Alain has 8 HP and 15 STR and is struck for 15 damage then the armour will drain 1 STR to absorb 10 HP of damage leaving Alain with 3 HP and 14 STR. If a second attack does 17 damage the armour exchanges 2 STR for 20 HP, leaving Alain with 6 HP and 12 STR.
