25th September 2013
The party return to the farm, surprising the Courts who had expected them to return via the tunnel. Following a hot bath and some food, they relax for the evening when Mr Court presents Linden with a spell book that his deceased brother had once found.
Early the next morning they all set out on their new steeds and it isn't long before the Druids forest comes into view. All is not well however as Mardram spots a reddish glow coming form the south. Fearing for the safety of the inhabitants, they break off the main road and venture down the forest path. The trees crowd around them and it becomes difficult to remain in the saddle. Just as they are thinking of dismounting, they spot someone just ahead. Not knowing who is they move cautiously, but the figure turns his bow pointed at them!
The Ranger immediately recognises them and lowers his bow and, glad to see them, beckons them closer. He explains that the woods to the south are under attack from mysterious assailants.
The group offer their support and he gratefully accepts, advising that the horses are left at this location - the fighting is to the south and he is certain they will be safe here. With a little healing from Mardram he returns to the fray leaving the party to consider their next move.
With the path to the south blocked by a large fire Mary leads the way around it.
As they round the edge of the fire and are about to head back, they see a large plant-like creature in front of them and find the roots underfoot rise up and grapple them. Mardram and Linden are held fast, but Mary nimbly skips free.
Mary looses a few arrows into the creature injuring it, before it lashes out and grabs her in its... limbs. Mardram manages to somehow stun it with a burst of sound allowing Mary and Linden to able to kill it easily. As they make their way through the tangled undergrowth however, another of the monsters appears. Again, Mardram is bizarrely able to stun the mindless beast and the party makes short work of it.
Still tangled, Mardram limps his way back to the path to join the others
