To anyone that follows, I make a note of words that are difficult to understand with {parenthesis}
I think that I can surmise that the Oughough was some form of travelling {vehicle} (subnote - translated simultaneously to cart, raft and giant metal box), if it can be believed big enough to hold thousands,. It had brought people described as {Johns} (subnote: simultaneously translated to villagers, sleepers and wastrels) by the {Daves} (subnote - translated simultaneously to facilitators, herdsmen or leaders).
The intention of the Daves was to create some form of colony only it seems that their vehicle, which was designed to break apart into {sections} that {landed} close to each other encountered something unexpected that caused the various parts to {land} separately.
It seems that each part of the vehicle had some sort of purpose and several contained Johns in a {village or graveyard} (subnote - spurious dichotomous translation?)
Fragmentary notes later suggest that the magic that we take for granted was something unknown to the Daves and that their own magic ceased to function outside of their vehicle.
As the settlement did not occur in an anticipated way and due to the loss of {shouted conversation with} other parts of the {vehicle} and the loss of usage of their own {tools} the initial period was one of very difficult times.
