Vendren is a prosperous city with a flourishing harbour at the edge of the empire, with abundant trade. Since the city is so far from the centre of power, it is used to fend for itself. There are high walls around it, topped with watchtowers and the gates close every night at sundown. People here like to think of themselves as pioneers, even though they have every known comfort available to them.
