Tired of the dry academic research and looking for something more interesting he left the academy before graduating. During his time there Zalan picked up knowledge on a wide range of topics (but not in any great depth) and a distate for academics and their boring studies and pointless rules.<br /> <br /> Zalan has a tendency towards haste and carelessness -- he signed up with the merchant Marion before reading the contract fully and finds himself signed up to the Fifth Annual Challenge of Champions.</div>
