Moving on, Jadrol spots something shiny in amongst all the gravel and he very very very carefully digs it out - its a foot! 
But not a normal foot. This one would look at perfectly home on one of the machines that attacked the group on the Oughough.

A careful examination of the area reveals some well eroded scratch marks heading towards a nearby cave. Perhaps the foots owner dragged themselves inside?

The cave curves a few times before opening up into a larger cavern with a few stalagmites and stalactites. Does that one look suspicious? YES! 
Calla suspects it is a rare beast that looks like a rock and uses pheromones and hallucinogens to confuse and trap its prey.

Carefully creeping round the edge of its influence, Jadrol kicks a rocks and wakes the beast only to be the first to succumb as he struggles to breathe. 
Calla is the next to fall for its smelly wiles, dropping the staff/snake in her hand and running for the cave entrance!

Grel takes a deep breath and runs at Jadrol, trying to push him out of the cloud of confusion.

Cordon charges the rock and with a few swings, dismisses it to rubble.

The cave narrows into another bend before opening again into an even larger cave, with a strange shiny looking mono-footed Gathlin sitting at the far end.
Grel edges closer before calling the rest to join him.

A little investigation shows that the silver dudes power source has been damaged, however a new partially charged one is found by preying open a nearby box. With the new 'battery' installed the mechanoid recounts its last minutes where it is attacked by several monsters before lapsing back into silence.


Lo and behold the aforementioned Earth Elementals burst from the walls and attack Calla.
Things are looking bad, until Cordon pulls off possibly the most ridiculous curving charge ever imagined and kills one of the muck monsters. Thankfully the remaining one doesn't last much longer!

Some engineering guesswork and communications with Eddie reveal the box to be a portable charging unit for the smaller robot batteries, so the remaining battery is placed back inside and the robot shoved inside the bag of holding for later repair.

Leaving the cave, the journey down the other side of the mountain range is uneventful.

Continuing North towards the mountains, the party notice that as the land rises, it gets colder and the air gets thinner. Eventually Grel has to land as he is struggling to maintain altitude even with the aid of the Flight Suit.

Before long the sound of a great waterfall is heard and when it comes into view there appears to be be way to ascend. A little thought and investigation identifies a path to the West that may be a little easier.

This path leads to another smaller cliff, one that the party is confident they can ascend but not in the fading sunlight.

A good night sleep and some preparation sees Grel soaring again with some magical help from Fletcher, and he is quickly able to scout out the top of the cliff and give the all clear.

Using combination of magic and sticky feet, everyone joins the diminutive Archer at the top where they journey onward on the only visible path.

Progressing down a small valley all seems quiet until BOOM! a large creature comes leaping out of the scree and attacks everyone, badly injuring Jadrol and Grel.

Fletcher escapes to the edge of the valley while Grel and Jadrol backpedal away trying to get out of reach of it.

Jadrol takes another couple swipes and he runs for the river with Grel not far behind him.

A couple of magic missiles and a summoned not-a-leopard force the beastie back under the loose rocks while Grel tries to patch up Jadrol.

A bit of a waiting game ensues, before the Bulette eventually shows its ugly face and gets pummelled by Jadrols bombs and Fletcher tries to get back down from the cliff.

Before long the sound of a great waterfall is heard and when it comes into view there appears to be be way to ascend. A little thought and investigation identifies a path to the West that may be a little easier.

This path leads to another smaller cliff, one that the party is confident they can ascend but not in the fading sunlight.

A good night sleep and some preparation sees Grel soaring again with some magical help from Fletcher, and he is quickly able to scout out the top of the cliff and give the all clear.

Using combination of magic and sticky feet, everyone joins the diminutive Archer at the top where they journey onward on the only visible path.

Progressing down a small valley all seems quiet until BOOM! a large creature comes leaping out of the scree and attacks everyone, badly injuring Jadrol and Grel.

Fletcher escapes to the edge of the valley while Grel and Jadrol backpedal away trying to get out of reach of it.

Jadrol takes another couple swipes and he runs for the river with Grel not far behind him.

A couple of magic missiles and a summoned not-a-leopard force the beastie back under the loose rocks while Grel tries to patch up Jadrol.

A bit of a waiting game ensues, before the Bulette eventually shows its ugly face and gets pummelled by Jadrols bombs and Fletcher tries to get back down from the cliff.

Continuing North towards the mountains, the party notice the that as the land rises, it get colder and the air gets thinner. Eventually Grel has to land as he is struggling to maintain altitude even with the aid of the Flight Suit.

Fresh from the radiant pool and loaded up with spare battery packs, the party head North again hoping that they are aiming for the mountain pass.

As if from nowhere, two Dryads appear and ask for help - there are a couple of large reptiles nearby that keep eating the Sacred Trees™ and nothing the Dryads do seems to scare them off.

After a quick, private conversation the group decide to see what they can do, however Calla for reason pledges to help them no matter what.

Following directions a huge nest is quickly located, along with the aforementioned tree-eaters.
Calla tries to approach them, however they are spooked and start to move forward threateningly leaving the rest with little option but to attack!

Fletcher blocks their path with some burning sands while Calla retreats, and Jadrol tries to circle around and get closer.
Grel takes to the sky and peppers the closest with arrows and Calla summons a Flaming sphere to scare them.

The sphere works and they are hesitant to attack despite the beating they are getting.

Eventually one of them collapses to the ground, and Grel, seeing the fear in its eyes heals it enough to get it back on its feet.

The other one however runs into the now burning nest and saves their young from a fiery doom.
Not seeing Grels kind act, Fletcher downs the first beast again however Grel soon gets it back to its feet.

With their nest burning, the family flee to the East allowing Jadrol to protect a nearby tree while Calls douses the flames.

Returning to the grateful Dryads, Calla and Grel are rewarded with custom artwork on their Staff and Bow.

Fresh from the radiant pool, the party head North again hoping that they are aiming for the mountain pass.

Forest of Andor/Illusions are such a Drag-on

After getting their breath back, the gang proceeds onwards only to find the scorpions nest close-by. A quick search reveals the corpses of two more scorpions and one of a medium sized dragon.

The dragon's corpse is roughly copper coloured, but has various plant features. It bears the marks of the scorpion pincers and stingers and there seems to have been quite a struggle. The dragon does not appear to have been mauled, it presumably wasn't to the surviving scorpion's taste, which is more than can be said for the dead scorpions. One was bad enough, three would likely have been fatal!

Examining the dragon, Calla finds that it is curled around a seed the size of a grapefruit.
The seed is far more complex looking than an ordinary seed, with liquid pulsing through semi transparent veins on the outside and giving off a vaguely acrid scent.

For some reason Jadrol thinks it might be a good idea to try to harvest the breath glands of the dragon, and horribly mutilates the corpse before coming to his senses and letting Cordon and Grel patch it back up.

Without their enhanced mounts the party make slow going through the forest and soon make camp.

As night falls, Jadrol notices that his seed has become unusually warm, and that there is a strange purple hue in the sky to the North East which everyone decides to investigate.

With Grel in the air guiding them, the party find a clearing with some obvious traps and a some guy on an axe-beak spoiling for a fight!

Cordon charges but falls through an illusion into a pit trap, Jadrol and fletcher are covered in a magical fog, and Grel is flung high into the sky!

Quickly evaluating the party as harmless to her, and smelling Russet mould, the combatant reveals itself to be an ancient Vine Dragon called Jangrillix before polymorphing into a humanoid for ease of conversation.

Jangrillix is protector of the Phoenix Fern grove, which is attended by Faerie Dragons and is filled with phoenix ferns in various states of germination.
Jangrillix says that Jadrol's (who she called 'blessed-one') must be a descendent of one stolen centuries ago and that the seed is clearly almost depleted. As it is now bonded to Jadrol, she will not be able to take it back without killing it and the only hope is the waters.

This grove was previously not unknown to the villagers to the South and their strange sky spirit. Her bonding was the model for that undertaken by the colony and she assisted and provided waters for the process but it has been centuries since a delegation came with a request for some of the water needed.
She presumes that she has been forgotten and that the bonding is completed without the waters these days, but she has no idea.

She witnessed the break-up of the ship as a youngster on the night of falling stars. The strangeness of this pool was created by something that fell from the sky. She arrived a few days later and the glade was already growing profusely. She investigated and on entering the waters, a transformation occurred and her copper coloured skin became infused with the vines that you can see now. It was a pleasant experience. She became guardian of the grove and brought her favourite plants there.
A few years later, she first met with the colonists and helped them as best she could.
The power of the pool has waned over the recent decades, such that the ferns take much longer to grow to maturity. Indeed, if the pool were functioning at its original strength, Jadrol's seed would have germinated within minutes of touching the water and would have properly bonded to him instantly. As it is, if he were to rest in there overnight it should germinate and bond.

There is a module with a door accessible just below the surface of the water. She has never successfully opened the door and did not want to damage the module to gain entry, being wise enough to know that if she broke it further she had no ability to repair it.

Before letting anyone into the module, Jangrillix says she detects taints present on two of the party and will remove them before entering the waters.
Cordon, or 'Sapling' is cursed by the cloak he wears and Fletcher (Shaper) has a foulness in his voice, both of which she cures.

Entering the waters, Calla (Green Keeper) find a doorway with the not unexpected Gathlain handprint symbol which Grel (Sky Pilot) activates. A small room is reveals with another closed door which trial and error indicates is locked until the outer door is closed allowing the room to fill with air.

The inner door reveals a 40ft circular room featuring a small power unit, a teleporter, and a device labelled fertiliser control system.

Not long after, Eddie the shipboard computer detects them and starts talking and is able to explain that this was the colonists Farming Module and would've provided nutrients to optimise crop growth.
A little guidance reveals that the modules four backup power cores are almost depleted (0%, 0%, 2% & 12%) but that the power Module would contain spares, as well as Coo Lant .

Unfortunately using the teleporter would likely wipe out the remaining power, and in any case he is unable to run the calculations in his current low-power mode.

It seems there is no shortcut to the power module.

With a foggy start the next morning, Cordon uses his compass and they set off and make good progress all day before setting up camp in good spirits.

Another good days travel, and between the Compass, Callas senses and Grels overhead scouting, there is no problem maintaining a good course towards the mountain pass.

A nights rest in a valley presents a warm & dry, but muggy day. Calla keeps people from poisoning themselves and, perhaps its complacency or tiredness, but somehow no-one notices the Huge Deadfall Scorpion until it attacks!

Fletcher tries to web it, but it barely notices and rushes forward to attack Cordon, grabbing him in a pincer movement (lol). Thankfully though he is able to wriggle free before he is split in two.

Fletcher makes the beast slightly uncomfortable with some Hot Sands before fleeing, and Calls throws some Nettle Tea around it.

Cordon remounts and beats a hasty retreat while Grel shoots from above.

Thankfully the creature decides the conjured horses look tastier than anything else and starts attacking them giving the party time to regroup.

Fire comes to the rescue in several forms, and eventually the Scorpion decides enough is enough and retreats but not before getting a couple of arrows in its back courtesy of Grel.

That was close!

With what supplies and equipment they can find aboard the Oughough, the group head back out through the usual route.

Standing atop the tall temple, eagle-eyed Calla spots a couple of Vegepygmies heading their way. Is one of them mounted??

Trying to slow them down and prevent being swarmed again, Calla raises a vicious undergrowth that slows even the nasty fungi.

Cordon storms down the steps atop Riva, but seems confused and bops the poor Gecko on her head getting a vicious glare for his trouble. Witchcraft!

Jadrol also head down the steps and lobs a few bombs at extreme range towards the bothersome Sorceress that just wont leave them alone.

Grel stays out of the tangled vines by taking to the skies and takes out a few stragglers before also giving chase.

Despite having his voice cursed, Fletcher manages to fire off enough fireworks and magic missiles to trip, dazzle and generally hamper the shit out of them.

Cordon eventually comes to his senses and goads the mounted boyo to attack him, giving him and Jadrol time to finish off the remaining be-fireworked enemies.

Seeing (or not seeing) the cowardly Sorceress try to run yet again, Calla summons a large bat to help Grel find her. With the overgrown plants hampering her speed, the time slowly runs down on her invisibility and Grel is able to take her out.

Take that!

With the Sky Chariot room peaceful again, the gang open the big doors to the East and follow Hals lights, going through a couple more doors before reaching the apparent destination.

Grel opens the door with the white card and a freezing fog billows out along the ground, chilling the several people, however it quickly dissipates with no permanent effects.

The new room has a glass floor and lots of flashing lights but at the far end there is a strange column with blocks in it.

Under Hals broken direction, Grel uses his small hands to remove several blackened and damaged looking blocks, and replaces them with undamaged ones from a compartment lower down.

After a few mistakes a message is given that suggests that Hal is going to get booted, seemingly for a second time and all the lights go out! onoes!

Fletcher conjures some light, however soon after the lights come back stronger than ever. It becomes apparent that Hal has been executed for his series of failures and been replaced by the not even slightly annoying 'Eddie'.

Eddie proceeds to lead Grel around the Sky-Chariot describing each room, and talking about his 'mission' and asking for help in retrieving someone called Koo Lant - apparently this person can help Eddie stay awake.

Before he falls asleep Eddie talks about Old Magic and New Magic (or as the group call it 'Magic') and gives instructions on how to use a 'Peedy Ehh' to help find Koo.

Eddie also determined that the Vegepygmy are related to the fungal research being conducted by the crew before they fled south and is shocked the the firebreak is deteriorating - he sends a couple of construction bots to repair it as they had created it originally.

It seems the crew understood the risks caused by the Vegepygmy and set about building the firebreak and setup the town of Oakenspire.

Fletcher takes charge of the Peedy Ehh and uses it to repair the damaged repair bot and Grels armour.

It appears the team have a long journey North ahead of them...

The new room has a glass floor and lots of flashing lights but at the far end there is a strange column with blocks in it.

Under Hals broken direction, Grel uses his small hands to remove several blackened and damaged looking blocks, and replaces them with undamaged ones from a compartment lower down.

After a few mistakes a message is given that suggests that Hal is going to get booted, seemingly for a second time and all the lights go out! onoes!

Fletcher conjures some light, however soon after the lights come back stronger than ever. It becomes apparent that Hal has been executed for his series of failures and been replaced by the not even slightly annoying 'Eddie'

Eddie proceeds to lead Grel around the Sky-Chariot describing each room, and talking about his 'mission' and asking for help in retrieving someone called Koo Lant - apparently this person can help Eddie stay awake.

Before he falls asleep Eddie talks about Old Magic and New Magic (or as the group call it 'Magic') and gives instructions on how to use a 'Peedy Ehh' to help find Koo.

Eddie also determined that the Vegepygmy are related to the fungal research being conducted by the crew before they fled south and is shocked the the firebreak is deteriorating - he sends a couple of construction bots to repair it as they had created it originally

It seems the crew understood the risks caused by the Vegepygmy and set about building the firebreak and setup the town of Oakenspire.

Fletcher takes charge of the Peedy Ehh and uses it to repair the damaged repair bot and Grels armour

It appears the team have a long journey North ahead of them...
